To Melt Away

I stare longingly at the dark shadowy corner, 

waiting, wondering, 

slowly allowing the breath to slip past my lips the way smoke

 

curls from a cigarette.

 
If only I could melt into the darkness the corner holds, 

letting the past

 melt from my mind, 

bringing the future to my hands.

Alone I sit and wait for you

as many times before

just to hear your foot steps

is all I'm longing for

To feel your arms around me

the gentle whispers that you speak

entwined within your confidence

are the memories I shall keep

The chance to hear your voice once more

or feel your presence close

to tell you that I love you

and it's you my heart has chose

when first love had arose

unsure of what the future held

still you I would have chose

So many days ahead of us

as I had wished there would be

I longed for solitude to go
